about the programme
Nothing much changed in the programme, which retained the 16-page format, despite being back in Division Two for the first time in 14 years. The cover design changed slightly, with a different graphic of players in action, above the match details.The higher division meant fewer league games although these were supplemented by issues for the League Cup tie against Exeter City in August 1972 and the FA Cup game against Chelsea in January 1973. The Football League Review was included with most programmes, although not stapled into the body of the programme. Four friendlies were played, The two pre-season games and the mid-season fixtures against Stoke City and Spartak Moscow saw 4-page programmes. The Moscow issue gave us a glimpse of what the 73/74 cover would look like, I wonder if that was deliberate………?
