about the programme
Another price increase for 81/82, 30p, up from 25p. At least we got an extra 4 pages, taking it up to 32. The cover was dominated hy an action photo and inside, the content remained similar to the previous season, with the extra pages giving more space to information on the opposition and added commercial news. The ‘Player Profile’ feature took the format of a question and answer, with the classic queries covering players’ favourite food, holiday destination and music. Two FA Cup issues were needed, along with one League Cup programme. The late postponement of the game against Leeds United on 19 December 1981 saw programmes issued, but most of them were subsequently destroyed. The few that do survive are extremely rare. I was sent a copy of the cover by a Leeds collector.
