1976/77 - division three
about the programme
It was back to a larger format for 76/77. The predominantly blue cover featured the match details in a white banner across the bottom, with three small photos above. At least there was no price increase this season, staying at 10p. Inside, the 16 pages were packed with news, features and statistics. Commercial information was starting to become an important part of the club’s activities and details of the various fundraising schemes and marketing activity was provided, as well as information on the increasingly popular ‘Seagull Special’ charter trains to away matches. Additional home programmes were needed for a run to the 4th round of the League Cup, and the FA Cup tie with Crystal Palace went to a second replay.

Walsall had been somewhat of a bogey side for Albion and when the teams went in goalless at half-time, Manager Alan Mullery was waiting to deliver one of his famous ‘rocket’ team talks. The second half performance has gone down in Seagulls legend.
