1985/86 - division two
about the programme
Another price increase for 1985/86, from 40p to 50p. Despite the 25% hike, the page count remained the same at 32, although two programmes (the season-opener against Grimsby Town and the game against Sheffield Wednesday on 27 August) saw 36 pages. Following the ban on English club participation in European competitions, something was needed to fill the gaps in the calendar. As a second division club, Albion found themselves in the ‘Full Members Cup’. The first home game came in October 1985, when an 8-page programme for the game against West Bromwich Albion was produced. At the beginning of March 1986, and weather saw a number of postponements, including our home game against Fulham. Some programmes avoided the pulping machine and a new programme was issued for the re-arranged fixture in April 1985. Three home pre-season friendlies were played, and a combined programme was issued covering all three fixtures.
